It all began in 1990, at the heart of a state renowned for its beaches and food. Pearl of the Orient, or officially known as Pulau Pinang, is the place where the founder Francis Lee y.k. discovered the beauty of gemstone. His grandmother responsible for introducing various kind of gemstones that she had collected since the young.
Francis started collecting various kind of gemstone. His first stone is a beautifully faceted oval blue topaz. His interest grew deeper and as a result, his collection spanned over few hundreds of different specimen.
A friend of his bought the collection over. It was the buyer inspired him to start his own workshop. Francis started up his workshop stringing solely gemstone beads for spirituality. Soon he quickly gained reputation for his stringing techniques and quality gemstones.
Fili & Gilani was coined from his lovely cat and dog. Fili, the loyal chow chow and Gilani, an adopted stray cat.
Francis still continues the tradition of hand making ranging from Cordon Bleu Box to jewelry. Jewelry making is a rare breed in his country. Even rarer, stringing each crystal beads to become the mostly used apparatus in spirituality – praying beads.
